Clarkston Rotary is going to be shaking and a moving in 2016-17. Incoming Club President Dave Boersma plans to make a few changes to the club schedule… changes that will engage the current membership, attract new members and increase visible presence in the Clarkston community. Here is his four step plan:
  • Weekly updates on the club website and social media…. We are going to make sure Clarkston knows what, where and when we are doing things!
  • Reduce monthly speakers from every week to two a month – We are going to reduce the speakers to two a month to fit other activities into meetings as well as increase the quality of our speakers!
  • Monthly in meeting service projects – We are going to expand our impact on the community by adding smaller projects every month!
  • Monthly club recognition – We are going to set aside one meeting a month to recognize our members. One Rotarian will be selected as Rotarian of the month and recognized for their activities both in and out of the club.
Clarkston Rotary will continue it's fundraisers that so many have come to enjoy... Fall and Spring Wine Tasting, Good fellows Papers, Concerts in the Park Dinner for Donations and the Taste of Clarkson Beer and Wine Tent. These events will allow us to continue our Shoes for Kids program, SCAMP Picnic, Rotary Youth Exchange Sponsorship, RYLA Sponsorship and Shelter Box to name a few.

Mr. Boersma has selected Veterans Treatment Courts as his Presidential Project. He will be working with The Friends of the North Oakland County Veterans Treatment Court. NOCVTC is comprised of a group of Veterans and community volunteers with one very specific goal ... to assist the Veterans Treatment Court in helping struggling Veterans assimilate back into civilian life by removing obstacles that are preventing the Veteran to stay focused on a healthy life style.

This club is going to strut it's stuff in 2016-2017!
