It is with a heavy heart that the Clarkston Rotary says, “Good-Bye” to past president Bart Clark who died suddenly over the Labor Day weekend.

Bart lived a full and exciting life.  He served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years in the nuclear submarine force.  After serving as commander of the nuclear submarine USS Omaha, he went on to serve as the commander of two naval shores activities.  His final tour was as Professor of Naval Science at the University of Michigan, during which time he belonged to the Ann Arbor Rotary club.  Following his navy career, Bart worked for the Ford Motor company for 11 years.  Bart was the great, great, great grandson of Jeremiah Clark, one of the two Clark brothers from whom Clarkston takes its name.  In addition to his long-time membership in the Clarkston Rotary Club, he was involved in numerous community committees and projects.  The members of the Clarkston Rotary knew they could always call on Bart to chair or serve on any committee, from chairing the  Clarkston Rotary 75th birthday celebration to helping organizing the staging for this year’s Labor Day parade.

Rest in peace, Bart.

We miss you.
